1. DATA WE COLLECT
1A. Information You Give Us Directly
In Short: We collect personal information that you actively submit to us.
We collect personal information that you actively submit to us — for example, when you register for an account, complete your training profile, communicate through the Platform, or contact our support team. Depending on how you use the Platform, this may include:
- Identity and contact details: your name and email address
- Account credentials: your password (stored in hashed form)
- Training profile information: martial arts disciplines practiced, experience level, preferred training style, geographic area for in-person sessions, and scheduling preferences
- Parental consent records: for users under 18, the name and contact details of the consenting parent or legal guardian, and documentation of that consent
You are responsible for ensuring that all information you provide is accurate and current. Please notify us promptly if any of your details change.
We do not collect sensitive personal information such as racial or ethnic origin, religious beliefs, political opinions, health or biometric data, financial account numbers, or precise government identification numbers.
1B. Information Collected Automatically
In Short: Some information — such as your IP address and device characteristics — is collected automatically when you visit our Platform.
When you visit or use the Platform, our servers and third-party tools automatically record certain technical information. This data generally does not identify you by name but is associated with your device or browsing session. It includes:
- Log data: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, referring URLs, pages visited, timestamps, and in-session actions such as searches and feature interactions, as well as device event information such as system activity and error reports
- Device data: device type and model, hardware identifiers, mobile carrier (if applicable), Internet service provider, and system configuration
- Approximate location data: country and city-level location derived from your IP address. If you grant permission, we may collect more precise location data (such as GPS coordinates) to support location-based partner matching. You may withdraw this permission at any time through your device settings, though some matching features may be limited as a result.
We collect this information to operate and secure the Platform, diagnose technical issues, and understand aggregate usage patterns.
1C. Information from Cookies and Similar Technologies
We and our third-party service providers use cookies, pixel tags, and related tracking tools to support Platform functionality and analytics. Please see Section 4 and our Cookie Policy at fightswipe.io/policies/cookies-policy for full details.
2. HOW WE USE YOUR DATA
In Short: We use your data to operate and improve the Platform, match you with training partners, keep you safe, and comply with the law.
We use the personal information we collect only when we have a valid legal basis to do so. Our purposes include:
- Account creation and management: processing your registration, authenticating your identity at login, and maintaining your account in working order
- Partner matching: using your training preferences, martial arts disciplines, experience level, and location to surface relevant training or sparring partners on the Platform
- Parental consent management: verifying and recording consent for minor users, and honoring consent withdrawal requests
- Service delivery: processing in-Platform communications between matched users and fulfilling any subscription or premium features you purchase
- Customer support: responding to your inquiries, troubleshooting issues, and resolving disputes
- Platform safety: detecting and preventing fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access; enforcing our Terms of Service; and protecting the rights and safety of our users, particularly minor participants
- Service improvement: analyzing usage trends and feature adoption to improve our matching algorithms, user experience, and overall Platform quality
- Communications: sending you service-related notifications (such as account alerts and policy updates) and, where you have opted in, promotional messages about new features or events. You may opt out of marketing communications at any time.
- Legal compliance: meeting our obligations under applicable laws, responding to lawful requests from authorities, and establishing or defending legal claims
3. DATA SHARING
In Short: We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who need it to help us operate the Platform, and in the specific situations described below.
3A. Service Providers
We engage third-party companies to perform functions on our behalf. These providers have access to personal information only as needed to carry out their specific services for us, and they are contractually prohibited from using it for any other purpose or disclosing it to any other party.
Our current service providers include:
Analytics
- Google Analytics
Website and application hosting
- Vercel
Database and backend infrastructure
- Supabase
3B. Other Platform Users
Fight Swipe is a social matching platform. When you create a training profile, other registered users will be able to view the profile information you choose to make visible, including your martial arts disciplines, experience level, and general location. Private contact details are shared only when both parties consent to connect. Please be thoughtful about what you include in public-facing profile fields.
3C. Business Transactions
If Fight Swipe is involved in a merger, acquisition, asset sale, or similar corporate transaction, your personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a materially different privacy policy as a result.
3D. Legal Requirements
We may disclose your information if we believe in good faith that doing so is required to: comply with a legal obligation or lawful government request; protect the rights, property, or safety of Fight Swipe, our users (including minor users), or the public; or enforce our Terms of Service.
4. COOKIES AND TRACKING TECHNOLOGIES
In Short: We may use cookies and other tracking technologies to collect and store your information.
We use cookies and similar technologies (including web beacons and session tokens) to keep you logged in, remember your preferences, secure your account, and analyze Platform usage.
We also permit certain third-party analytics and advertising vendors to place tracking technologies on our Platform. These tools may be used to serve you advertisements on other websites that are relevant to your interests based on your Platform activity. Where this activity constitutes a "sale" or "sharing" of personal data under applicable US state privacy laws (see Section 9), you have the right to opt out by submitting a request as described in that section.
Full details on the specific cookies we use, their purpose, and how to manage them are available in our Cookie Policy at fightswipe.io/policies/cookies-policy.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how users navigate the Platform in aggregate. You may opt out of Google Analytics tracking at any time by installing the browser add-on available at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. Google's privacy practices are described at https://policies.google.com/privacy.
5. DATA RETENTION
In Short: We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as long as required by law.
We retain your personal information for as long as your account remains active and for a reasonable period thereafter to fulfil the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer retention period is required by law (for example, to satisfy tax, accounting, or regulatory obligations).
Once we no longer have a legitimate need to hold your data, we will either securely delete it or anonymize it so that it can no longer be associated with you. In cases where immediate deletion is not technically feasible (for example, data held in encrypted backup archives), we will isolate that data from active processing until deletion is possible.
For minor users, we apply heightened retention limits: we do not retain personal data beyond the period necessary to support the active consent granted by the parent or guardian, and we promptly delete minor user data upon a valid consent withdrawal request.
6. SECURITY
In Short: We aim to protect your personal information through reasonable organizational and technical security measures.
We maintain reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. Examples include encrypted data transmission, hashed password storage, and access controls limiting who within our organization can view personal information.
That said, no method of transmitting or storing data over the internet is completely immune to risk. We cannot guarantee absolute security, and we encourage you to use strong, unique passwords and to access the Platform only from trusted networks and devices. Any transmission of personal information to our Platform is at your own risk.
7. YOUR RIGHTS
In Short: Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, and to withdraw consent.
Depending on your country or US state of residence, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Correction: Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data
- Deletion: Request that we delete your personal information, subject to legal exceptions
- Portability: Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
- Withdrawal of consent: Where our processing is based on your consent, withdraw that consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing that occurred before withdrawal, nor does it affect processing based on other legal grounds.
- Objection: Object to processing based on our legitimate interests
- Restriction: Ask us to pause processing in certain circumstances
For parents or guardians of minor users, you may exercise any of the above rights on behalf of your child. Please include documentation confirming your relationship to the minor.
Managing Your Account
To review or update your account information, log in to your account settings or contact us using the details in Section 11. If you wish to terminate your account, contact us and we will deactivate and delete your account from our active systems. Certain information may be retained in our records where required by law or to prevent fraud, troubleshoot problems, or assist with any investigations.
Cookies and similar technologies: Most web browsers are set to accept cookies by default. You can usually configure your browser to remove or reject cookies, though doing so may affect certain Platform features or functions. See our Cookie Policy at fightswipe.io/policies/cookies-policy for more information.
For privacy-related questions, contact us at contact@support.fightswipe.io.
8. DO-NOT-TRACK SIGNALS
Most web browsers and some mobile operating systems allow users to broadcast a Do-Not-Track ("DNT") preference signal to websites. Because no universally accepted standard currently exists for interpreting or honoring these signals, our Platform does not alter its data collection practices in response to DNT signals at this time. Should an enforceable standard emerge that we are required to follow, we will update this policy accordingly.
As required by California law, we disclose that we do not currently respond to DNT browser signals.
